Le 28 avril 1870. Fanny et Stella, les flamboyantes Miss Fanny Park et Stella Boulton, font sensation au Strand Theatre.
 Quelques instants plus tard, ils sont emmenés par la police.
Ce qui a suivi a été un scandale qui a choqué l’Angleterre victorienne dans la même mesure.
Ernest Boulton et Frederick William Park étaient deux travestis victoriens : Stella et Fanny, respectivement Ernest Boulton (1847-1904), et Frederick Park (1846-1881). Stella,  Fanny était sa fidèle compagne.

Le problème est qu’ils se travestissaient dans la vie quotidienne.
Le couple était poursuivi par la presse londonienne et connu comme les He/She Ladies. Fanny et Stella ont été la cible d’accusations de travestissement sur la place publique et de sodomie. Ces accusations criminelles étaient passibles de prison avec travaux forcés.
Au terme d’un procès dégradant et très médiatisé, un acquittement est prononcé à défaut d’être en mesure de faire la preuve qu’il y a eu sodomie.

April 28, 1870. Fanny and Stella, the flamboyant Miss Fanny Park and Stella Boulton, make a splash at the Strand Theatre.
A few moments later, they were taken by the police.
What followed was a scandal that shocked Victorian England to the same extent.
Ernest Boulton and Frederick William Park were two Victorian transvestites.
Stella and Fanny, respectively Ernest Boulton (1847-1904) and Frederick Park (1846-1881). Stella, Fanny was his faithful companion.
The problem is that they were cross-dressing in everyday life.
The couple was pursued by the London press and known as the He/She Ladies. Fanny and Stella were the targets of charges of public transvesting and sodomy. These criminal charges were punishable by imprisonment with forced labour.
At the end of a degrading and high-profile trial, an acquittal is pronounced without being able to prove that there was sodomy
