Adolf Brand (1874-1945), photographe, poète, éditeur, activiste, anarchiste.
Il fonde en 1896 le 1er magazine gay à Berlin, Der Eigene, en hommage à l’anarchiste Max Stirner.
Adolf Brand exalte une forme poétique d’hédonisme antique, qu’il officialise avec la création de sa maison d’édition en 1896.
La conception de l’homosexualité virile inspire Fersen qui entre en contact avec Brand et Hirschfeld en 1907 à Berlin par l’entremise d’Eekhoud.
Les 1ères illustrations de Der Eigene sons signés Fidus.
