Il s’initie à la photographie auprès du photographe local Giuseppe Bruno et fixe sur ses plaques de verre, les habitants, les paysages et les beaux petits paysans, qu’il magnifie, immortalise. Toujours en référence à l’antique. Le berger devient NERON, l’ouvrier VIRGILE. La beauté est sublimée, au naturel. Ce monde de rêve et de romantisme a fait du Baron von GLOEDEN, un grand créateur d’une œuvre unique, qui restera à jamais une expression avant-gardiste de l’histoire du nu masculin dans la photographie. Son cousin, von PLUSCHOW, originaire de la même localité, arrive en Sicile vers 1870, il dénude aussi les garçons et ses photos sont souvent, plus directes et plus érotiques aussi. Vincenzo GALDI, dates inconnues, actif à Rome à partir de 1890. Egalement des garçons dénudés, dans des intérieurs souvent chargés : statues, tissus, accessoires multiples.   Presentation of sixty photographs from the period, taken by the famous Baron von GLOEDEN from Prussia who came to TAORMINA for its mild climate. Vincenzo GALDI, dates unknown, active in Rome from 1890 on.
